
Wedotv Expands to India Through Samsung TV Plus Partnership

Wedotv has officially cemented its presence in India by forging a landmark distribution partnership with Samsung TV Plus. This collaboration introduces four specialized channels to millions of Samsung Smart TV owners across the nation, representing a significant stride in wedotv's international growth.
The newly launched channels on Samsung TV Plus include "wedotv Big Stories," developed in conjunction with Big Media; "wedotv Cars," a product of collaboration with Motorvision; and dedicated channels for movies and sports, "wedotv Movies" and "wedotv Sports." This curated selection promises a rich variety of content spanning factual entertainment, automotive programming, cinematic experiences, and athletic events.
This initiative further solidifies wedotv's assertive push into the Asian market, building on its extensive international expansion efforts since 2023. India now joins a growing list of 13 territories where wedotv channels are accessible through Samsung TV Plus, following recent successful launches in regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
Iza Piotrowska, wedotv's Senior VP of Global Business Development, highlighted the significance of this Indian launch, emphasizing its role in the company's broader expansion strategy within high-growth markets. She noted India's vibrant and rapidly evolving streaming ecosystem, expressing confidence that the partnership will deliver globally relevant content to a highly engaged audience.
Samsung TV Plus boasts an impressive global reach, with over 100 million monthly active users. This service comes pre-installed on Samsung Smart TVs and other compatible devices, requiring no subscription. It provides access to more than 4,300 ad-supported linear channels across 30 countries, making it a powerful platform for content distribution.
Kunal Mehta, General Manager and Head of Business Development for Samsung TV Plus India, reiterated the market's importance for Samsung. He underscored the company's dedication to enhancing the TV viewing experience by partnering with leading content providers like wedotv, thereby expanding the array of premium international channels and reinforcing its mission to deliver free, high-quality streaming content to its users.
Wedotv operates as the ad-supported streaming division of Video Solutions AG, a Swiss media enterprise. Beyond its collaborations, wedotv manages its own website and applications, and is available on various partner platforms including LG Channels, VIDAA/Hisense, Zattoo, and Freeview. The company's channels currently serve audiences across the U.K., Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.
