Netflix's upcoming drama, based on Harlan Coben's renowned "Myron Bolitar" book series, has officially unveiled its three central performers. Colin Woodell is set to portray the protagonist, Myron Bolitar, with KJ Apa cast as Win Lockwood, and Diane Guerrero completing the main trio as Esperanza Diaz. This announcement follows Netflix's initial series order, which was made public during their upfront presentation in May.
The series' premise introduces Myron Bolitar, a former college basketball sensation whose NBA aspirations were cut short by an injury. He transitions into a new career as a sports agent, where his inherent charm, sharp intellect, and a determined partner enable him to navigate the intricate and often morally ambiguous landscape of professional sports. His commitment to his clients frequently demands that he put himself at risk.
Myron Bolitar is characterized as an individual who, after the unexpected halt to his basketball career, channeled his competitive spirit and passion into establishing MB Sports. His agency is founded on a firm belief in supporting underestimated athletes, demonstrating the same fierce dedication he once applied to the basketball court.
Colin Woodell, known for his work in Netflix's medical drama "Pulse" and HBO's "I Love LA," will embody Myron Bolitar. His recent roles also include the "John Wick" prequel series "The Continental" and his portrayal of Buzz Aldrin in Greg Berlanti's "Fly Me to the Moon." Woodell has also appeared in HBO Max's "The Flight Attendant."
Win Lockwood, a character of immense privilege, chose to diverge from his family's established business to forge his own path alongside Myron. His steadfast demeanor, boundless resourcefulness, and unwavering loyalty make him Myron's go-to confidant whenever clients encounter difficulties.
KJ Apa, widely recognized for his leading role as Archie Andrews throughout all seven seasons of The CW's "Riverdale," will portray Win Lockwood. His film credits include "The Hate U Give," "I Still Believe," "The Last Summer," and "The Map That Leads To You."
Esperanza Diaz is described as a former professional wrestler who became Myron's indispensable second-in-command at MB Sports. Her resilience and sharp wit form the core support system of the agency, ensuring both Myron and their clients remain grounded and accountable.
Diane Guerrero, who gained prominence as Maritza Ramos in Netflix's acclaimed series "Orange Is the New Black," will play Esperanza Diaz. She is also recognized for her performances in The CW's "Jane the Virgin" and HBO Max's "Doom Patrol," and lent her voice to Isabela in Disney's hit animated musical "Encanto."
David E. Kelley and Kyle Long are spearheading the "Myron Bolitar" series as writers, showrunners, and executive producers. Kelley is executive producing through David E. Kelley Productions (DEKP), joined by Matthew Tinker of DEKP, Harlan Coben via Final Twist Productions, and Rick Muirragui. Greg Yaitaines will also serve as executive producer and direct multiple episodes.
"Myron Bolitar" is the latest collaboration between Netflix and Harlan Coben, following a string of successful adaptations of his works. Previous Netflix projects based on Coben's novels include "Fool Me Once," "Run Away," "Safe," "The Woods," "The Innocent," "Gone for Good," "Stay Close," "Hold Tight," "The Stranger," "Missing You," "Just One Look," "Caught," and "I Will Find You."
