Unlocking the transmogrification feature, or 'reforging' as it's known in the game, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, allows players to customize the visual appearance of Geralt's equipment independently of its statistical benefits. This highly sought-after capability lets you don your preferred aesthetic, such as the elegant Toussaint attire, while secretly benefiting from the superior statistics of a different armor set, like the formidable Witcher School gear.

To access this function, players must locate and gain the services of specific master craftsmen. Standard armorers and blacksmiths are insufficient; only master-level artisans possess the necessary skills. These crucial figures are Yoana, a master armorer, and Hattori, a master blacksmith. To enlist Yoana's expertise, players must successfully complete the 'Master Armorers' quest located in Crow's Perch, Velen. It is imperative to trust Yoana throughout this quest to ensure her services are unlocked. For Hattori, the master blacksmith, players need to undertake the 'Of Swords and Dumplings' quest in Novigrad. Although this quest is less prone to failure, players should avoid any actions that might disrupt its progression.

Once these master craftsmen are accessible, using the transmogrification feature is straightforward. First, equip the items you wish to modify visually. Then, engage with Yoana for armor or Hattori for weapons, and select their 'reforge' menu. This interface will display your currently equipped gear on the right and a comprehensive list of available equipment appearances on the left. Selecting any appearance from the list will apply it to your worn item. The cost for transmogrifying a single item typically ranges between 100 and 200 crowns, varying by item type, and importantly, it does not damage the item. An item's appearance is permanently unlocked once you obtain it, even if you no longer possess the physical item. However, gear acquired before the Remastered update must be placed in your inventory to register its appearance for transmogrification.

This innovative feature enhances player agency, allowing for greater personalization of the gameplay experience. It empowers players to express their style without sacrificing strategic advantages, fostering a more engaging and visually appealing journey through the Continent.
