LEGO enthusiasts and Dark Knight fans have reason to celebrate as the company prepares to roll out three fresh Batman-themed building sets. These new additions, scheduled for release in early 2027, continue the rich tradition of LEGO's engagement with the Caped Crusader's universe, which already includes films and video games.

New LEGO Batman Collection to Feature Iconic Vehicles and Villains

The upcoming collection kicks off with the highly anticipated "Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck" set. This particular offering spotlights the legendary Batmobile from the 1992 cinematic release, paired with Penguin's distinctive duck-shaped conveyance. A notable feature of this Batmobile rendition is its ability to convert into a sleeker Batmissile by detaching its side panels. Priced at $59.99, this 672-piece set presents a more accessible alternative to its pricier, larger-scale predecessor.

Next in line is the "Arkham Batman Batmobile," paying homage to the tank-like vehicle from the 2015 video game "Batman: Arkham Knight." This 317-piece set, retailing at $29.99, boasts functional suspension and includes a detailed Batman minifigure, allowing fans to recreate their favorite moments from the acclaimed game.

Completing the trio is "The Joker Wall Art Comic Cover," an intricate display piece inspired by the iconic cover of Detective Comics #880 (2011). This "3D wall art" set, with its 1,849 pieces and $169.99 price tag, features elements that extend beyond the frame, such as bats and Batarangs, creating a dynamic visual effect. All three sets are slated for a January 1, 2027, debut.

This announcement follows a successful year for LEGO Batman, marked by the critically acclaimed open-world video game "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight." Released on May 22, the game garnered praise for its extensive scope and faithful adaptation of the Arkham series, achieving an impressive 83 on Metacritic and a 95% user approval rating on Steam. The enduring popularity of LEGO Batman is further underscored by the fact that certain vintage sets, like a 2008 release featuring the Joker Batmobile, now command prices more than twenty times their original cost on secondary markets.

The continuous innovation within the LEGO Batman series not only caters to long-time collectors but also introduces new generations to the rich narratives of Gotham City. These meticulously designed sets exemplify LEGO's commitment to delivering both playability and collectible value, strengthening the bond between brick builders and the legendary DC hero and his adversaries.
