The latest partnership between Eckhaus Latta and J.Crew might initially seem like an unexpected combination, given Eckhaus Latta's edgy downtown vibe and J.Crew's classic preppy image. However, following the swift sell-out of their initial Rollneck collaboration in February, designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta are building on this success with an expansive new collection.
For this fresh collection, the designers embarked on a journey through J.Crew's rich archives, specifically poring over catalogs from the 1990s. This deep dive into past trends allowed them to pinpoint iconic pieces, such as durable barn jackets, impeccably tailored shirting, and comfortable knitwear. These foundational items have been meticulously reinterpreted, imbuing them with Eckhaus Latta's unique contemporary flair.
While the overall shapes of the garments maintain J.Crew's familiar appeal, a closer examination reveals intricate details that are unmistakably Eckhaus Latta. Shirts feature an innovative asymmetrical back panel, while skirts incorporate tastefully subtle slits, adding a hint of modern allure without being overtly bold. The collection also includes a versatile reversible turtleneck, a nod to the early 2000s layering trend that is experiencing a resurgence. The aesthetic successfully marries a collegiate, polished look with an artistic, unconventional twist, reminiscent of an Ivy League sensibility blended with the creative spirit of RISD, the designers' alma mater.
Beyond apparel, the collection offers a range of sophisticated accessories perfect for the autumn season, providing fresh alternatives to traditional cold-weather staples. Instead of conventional black leather gloves, shoppers can opt for luxurious cashmere opera gloves. For headwear, balaclavas or brushed cashmere bandanas offer a stylish departure from typical beanies. A significant highlight of this collection is its accessible pricing, with most items retailing under $300, making these distinctive pieces attainable for a broader audience. The most premium item, the barn coat, is priced at $650.
The highly anticipated Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew collection will be officially available for purchase on September 15th. Early access to shop the collection will be granted to customers who sign up via email at 9:00 a.m. ET, with the general public launch scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET. Fashion enthusiasts are encouraged to mark their calendars and bookmark the page to secure their favorite pieces from this exciting collaboratio
