Trainers worldwide are invited to immerse themselves in the highly anticipated Pokémon Go "Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek" event, commencing on October 13th and concluding on October 19th. This week-long celebration introduces Bramblin, the elusive tumbleweed Pokémon, to the game for the very first time. Furthermore, the event ushers in an exciting new evolution for Manectric, allowing it to reach its Super Max Level, complete with a powerful new move, Discharge+.
Participants in the "Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek" will discover various ways to encounter Bramblin. The newly introduced Pokémon can emerge through the use of Incense, offering a convenient method for capture. Additionally, dedicated trainers who advance through the event's Go Pass can secure Bramblin encounters at ranks 30 and 60, with extra opportunities available for those with a deluxe pass. Field Research tasks, specifically the "earn a candy exploring with your buddy" objective, also present a potential avenue for encountering Bramblin, making exploration and companionship key elements of this event.
To evolve Bramblin into its formidable form, Brambleghast, trainers must collect 50 Bramblin Candy. Beyond the candy requirement, a unique evolution condition is in place: players must designate Bramblin as their buddy and trek a considerable distance of 20 kilometers alongside it. This buddy-centric evolution method emphasizes the importance of walking and bonding with Pokémon, a core mechanic of the game. It is important to note that a shiny version of Bramblin is not yet available, maintaining the rarity and novelty of its initial release.
The event's Go Pass features 30 main ranks and an additional 30 bonus ranks, offering numerous rewards. Progression through the Go Pass is achieved by successfully winning raids, capturing Pokémon, and hatching eggs. Daily tasks, such as utilizing Incense and traversing one kilometer, each contribute 50 points, equating to one full rank when both are completed. Milestone bonuses further enrich the experience, with rank 10 doubling Incense duration and rank 20 providing a substantial 5x Mega Energy bonus when journeying with Electrike or Manectric as a buddy, after achieving at least one Mega Evolution for Manectric.
A demanding yet rewarding Timed Research challenge, titled "Fall Marathon," is also a highlight of the event. This research, which must be completed before the event concludes, focuses on extensive walking. The single step of this research requires trainers to explore distances of 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km, each rewarding 4,200 XP. Successful completion of these exploration goals culminates in an exclusive encounter with a Pikachu adorned with a marathon visor, a prized reward for dedicated walkers.
Furthermore, spinning PokéStops during the event period can unlock specific Field Research tasks. These tasks include earning a candy while exploring with a buddy, which can lead to encounters with Electrike or Bramblin. Other tasks involve exploring 1 km for encounters with Doduo, Cacnea, or Electrike, or exploring 3 km for 25 Manectric Mega Energy or one Rare Candy. Visiting a previously unvisited PokéStop also offers 25 Manectric Mega Energy or one Rare Candy, encouraging players to discover new locations.
The "Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek" event significantly boosts the spawn rates of several Pokémon, including Ponyta, Doduo, Electrike, Skarmory, and Blitzle, making them more prevalent in the wild. Additionally, specific Pokémon will appear more frequently from Incense on designated days. Galarian Ponyta and Hoppip will be more common from October 13th to 16th, while Hisuian Growlithe, Nincada, and Helioptile will see increased Incense spawns from October 16th to 19th. Electrike and Bramblin will be available via Incense throughout the entire event, with an elevated chance of encountering shiny versions of certain Pokémon, adding an extra layer of excitement for collectors.
This year's Pokémon Go Fall Marathon, the "Buddy Trek," delivers a rich and engaging experience for trainers. With the introduction of Bramblin, the Mega Evolution of Manectric, and a variety of challenges and rewards, players are encouraged to explore, battle, and bond with their Pokémon. The event's focus on walking and buddy interactions reinforces the game's core tenets, offering both seasoned veterans and new players ample opportunities to enhance their collections and enjoy new adventures.
