Asa Germann Cast as Angel in Upcoming X-Men Film

Interestingly, Germann had initially auditioned for the role of Cyclops, a part that ultimately went to 'Heartstopper' star Kit Connor. Angel, a foundational member of the X-Men alongside characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, and Beast, is characterized by his distinctive large, white, angel-like wings that grant him the power of flight.

The character of Angel has a cinematic history, having previously appeared in 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (portrayed by Ben Foster) and a more villainous incarnation as Archangel in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' (played by Ben Hardy).
