Renault's high-performance brand, Alpine, is generating excitement with a preview of its latest concept vehicle, the PS1, ahead of its official debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. This new model, whose designation stands for 'Projet Spécial 1', is poised to showcase an innovative design featuring distinctive concealed headlights.

Alpine's PS1 Concept: A Glimpse into Future Design and Expansion Plans

The teaser footage released by Alpine offers a brief but intriguing look at the PS1. It reveals a front fascia where a section smoothly folds away to unveil an array of five hidden lighting elements: four compact rectangular lights and a single elongated one. A slender light bar positioned beneath these concealed features remains visible. The video momentarily illuminates the vehicle, highlighting its low-slung, broad stance and a prominent rear wing, suggesting a focus on aerodynamic performance and a powerful aesthetic.

The PS1 is presented as a cornerstone of Alpine's 'special projects pillar,' an initiative dedicated to crafting exclusive, limited-production automobiles that embody the pinnacle of design and material quality, much like the A110 R Ultime. This strategic direction aims to deliver unparalleled craftsmanship and unique ownership experiences. In addition to this new concept, Alpine's presence at the Paris Motor Show will feature the public debut of its A110 Sculpture, an artistic rendition that foreshadows the brand's forthcoming all-electric, two-seater sports car. The company will also highlight its expanded customization offerings, available for the A290 and A390 models through the Atelier Alpine program, providing a wider selection of colors, interior trims, and finishes. Notably, a new Collection trim for the A290 will pair Blanc Nival with a contrasting black roof, 19-inch Snowflake wheels, and silver brake calipers, while the A390 GTS will boast Bleu Tempête Mat with a black roof and enhanced sport seats.

Alpine's ambitions extend beyond product development, with plans for a significant expansion into the North American market. While earlier intentions to enter the United States faced challenges due to new tariffs, the brand is now targeting a Canadian launch in 2029. This strategic move coincides with the introduction of Alpine's new performance platform, the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), which will form the foundation for the next-generation A110 successor. This innovative platform is engineered to integrate dual rear electric motors and aims for a lightweight construction, with an estimated curb weight of approximately 3,300 pounds.

The reveal of the PS1 concept, coupled with Alpine's long-term market expansion and technological advancements, underscores a bold vision for the future of high-performance automotive design. It’s an exciting time for enthusiasts to witness the evolution of Alpine as it continues to push the boundaries of innovation and luxury in the sports car segment.
