Following a recent influx of new models, BMW is now directing its attention to the X3, a cornerstone of its global sales. Introduced in 2024 as the fourth-generation model, the X3 has consistently been the brand's top-performing vehicle worldwide. For 2027, it undergoes several updates to further solidify its appeal.
Just a month after its European debut, BMW has officially announced the updates for the North American market. These enhancements include a more luxurious cabin with additional soft-touch materials, along with the introduction of a stylish Black Package option, offering drivers a more premium and personalized experience.
For those considering an X3, particularly the M50 model, waiting for the 2027 release this December is highly recommended. The new M50 boasts an impressive 437 horsepower, a substantial increase from its predecessor, though its torque remains a robust 428 lb-ft. This power upgrade aligns the X3 M50 with the potent M350, demonstrating BMW's commitment to delivering consistent high performance across its lineup. While the current model produces 393 hp, the 2027 version offers a 44 hp boost, enabling a projected 0-60 mph acceleration in a swift 4 seconds. BMW is known for conservative estimates, so real-world testing may reveal even quicker times.
Despite the significant performance enhancements, the 2027 X3 M50 comes with a surprisingly modest price adjustment. Retailing at $67,500, plus a $1,350 destination charge, the new model is only $1,000 more than its current $66,500 counterpart. This translates to an exceptional value of approximately $23 per additional horsepower, making it a highly attractive upgrade. Interestingly, the optional cosmetic Black Package, priced at $3,800, costs more than the performance increase itself. For those who find the M50's 437 hp excessive, details on the standard X3 30's output remain unconfirmed, suggesting its power figures will likely stay consistent with previous models.
